At Cameron's we have 4 main spat sale sizes which are graded on a 4000, 5000, 6000 or 8000 micron mesh screen.
Our product is marketed based on our belief in quality, availablity on demand and extremely competitive prices. At Cameron's our quality starts with our spat. We have four main spat sale sizes which are graded on a 4000, 5000, 6000 or 8000 micron mesh screen.
| 4000 screen | Average weight between 22-18,000 per kilo Recommended for seed trays or small mesh bags. Less per kilo the bigger the oysters. To avoid 'beaking' we do not recommend this product for 3mm baskets. |
| 5000 screen | Average 15-10,000 per kilo Perfect size for putting straight into 3mm baskets |
| 6000 screen | Average 8-4,000 per kilo Being roughly double the weight of a 5000 screen this is the perfect product to make up a bit of growing time. Great as an autumn/winter product where the extra body mass late in the season is desired. |
| 8000 screen | 3000-1800 per kilo Recommended for 6mm baskets, we do not supply a 7mm oyster as on our own farm experience we have found they 'beak' and can result in poor performance, thus we recommend our 8000 screen to anyone using 6mm baskets. |
| 10000 screen | Price on Request At present South Australian regulations prevent translocation of 10 screen oysters. For Tasmanian customers, due to the considerable size of this product, we only grow on request and is available subject to the season. |
